I was much impressed by my visit, as I'm sure you can tell from the article I wrote, and sorry to see a fine institution go. I hope life is better for you these days, and that you have managed to stay out! Would it be naive to expect them to be turned into allotments? Or a much-need children's play area for Castlefields? That would be my option. But I guess the council would be most likely to think about turning them into building plots. Overlooking the river, lovely views - but would it be possible to turn them into building plots?Pauline Fiskhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11826696982301252524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2516458756815841449.post-82354712432716808812013-03-12T10:54:27.084+00:002013-03-12T10:54:27.084+00:00Well done Pauline. It beggars belief the way that this government in particular seems bent on closing things down or dismantling them in the interests of political dogma. Here you have a prison acknowledged across the service as being exactly what you'd want a prison to be. It even funds its own rehabilitation programme by means of a charity, rather than the government having to fund it for them. And the reward for working hard to set all this up? Closure. Sure, Shrewsbury's infrastructure needed money putting into it. But the government can find the money when it wants to.

Kathleen, do share this story if you think it is appropriate.
